This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead, mentor, and cultivate the Corporate Accounting Team.
• Conduct individualized meetings, performance coaching, and discussions on professional development.
• Strategize, prioritize, and assign work tasks while offering technical support.
• Set and assess departmental goals, key performance indicators, and expectations.
• Suggest improvements in processes, enhancements in technology, and operational efficiencies.
• Develop and uphold accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Collaborate with the Director of Finance on strategic initiatives and departmental planning.
• Supervise the general ledger and ensure accurate financial transaction recording.
• Guarantee timely balance sheet reconciliations and review monthly account reconciliations.
• Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes.
• Oversee cash, receivables, payables, accrued liabilities, and fixed assets.
• Prepare monthly financial statements for leadership and shareholder reporting.
• Assist with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and ad hoc financial analyses.
• Ensure adherence to GAAP and BELAY accounting standards.
• Direct annual external audits and coordinate audit documentation.
• Maintain accounting systems, financial data, and system integrations.
• Enhance internal controls and refine accounting processes.
• Monitor daily cash positions and organizational liquidity.
• Collaborate with FP&A on forecasting, planning, and financial analysis.
• Provide accounting guidance to operational leaders.
• Work alongside system administrators on system improvements and accounting workflows.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 7–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including previous leadership roles.
• Experience overseeing general ledger accounting, financial reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month-end closing processes.
• Strong grasp of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Proven experience in leading accounting operations and enhancing financial processes.
• Demonstrated leadership in coaching, developing, and managing a high-performing team.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• High level of integrity with the capacity to handle confidential financial data.
• Ability to juggle multiple priorities while adhering to deadlines.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
• CPA designation is preferred.
• Experience leading external audits is preferred.
• Familiarity with ERP or cloud-based accounting systems is preferred.
• Experience in a remote or distributed organization is preferred.
• Experience assisting with budgeting and financial planning processes is preferred.
• Capability to maintain a dedicated home office.
• Ability to align work hours with BELAY's core collaboration times.
• Willingness to engage in extended periods of sitting and computer use.
• Frequent participation in virtual meetings is expected.
• Ability to communicate effectively via video conferencing, email, and telephone.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.
• Candidates must reside in the Eastern or Central time zones.
• BELAY is currently unable to hire employees residing in California, New York, Illinois, or Oregon.
