Assistant Controller

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assist in managing financial accounting, analysis, treasury, audit, and tax functions while ensuring adherence to GAAP standards.

• Support accounting operations, including general ledger management, revenue recognition, billing, and accounts receivable/payable activities.

• Collaborate with Revenue Operations, Sales, and Finance to guarantee the accuracy of order-to-cash processes and alignment of data across NetSuite, Salesforce, and related systems.

• Aid in the preparation and timely publication of accurate monthly financial statements.

• Analyze and report on key financial and operational results, identifying trends and drivers in collaboration with the FP&A team.

• Review financial statements, assess outcomes against projections and budgets, and suggest necessary adjustments.

• Assist in the development and maintenance of internal controls and ensure policy compliance.

• Evaluate existing processes, recommend improvements for efficiency, and assist with implementation across various functional areas.

• Support the implementation of accounts receivable, accounts payable, general accounting, and accrual processes.

• Aid in the implementation of accounting policies, technical memorandums, and procedures.

• Work collaboratively to establish KPIs and leading indicators.

• Support the implementation and enhancement of ERP systems.

• Assist with process documentation, system enhancements, and initiatives aimed at continuous improvement.

• Identify and promote opportunities for automating accounting processes, including the use of AI.

• Provide support to the VP Corporate Controller, senior leadership, and private equity partners in achieving growth and strategic objectives.

• Assist with the financial integration of acquisitions, focusing on post-closing performance measurement and carve-out financials.

• Lead accounting workstreams for M&A integrations, including accounts receivable/payable conversions, contract assets and liabilities, and system and process integrations.

• Mentor and develop team members within the accounting department.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related discipline; CPA or advanced degree is preferred.

• Over 7 years of accounting experience, with a minimum of 2 years in a senior or lead accounting role.

• Experience in high-growth, private equity-backed SaaS companies is preferred.

• Familiarity with multi-entity, multi-currency closing processes across various countries.

• Experience in supporting audits, implementing accounting policies, and enhancing operational processes.

• Background in M&A activities, including integration and post-closing performance measurement. Prior experience with financial carve-outs is advantageous.

• Practical experience in supporting M&A transactions and integrations, covering accounts receivable and payable conversions, as well as integrating contract assets and liabilities.

• Proficiency in NetSuite is strongly preferred; familiarity with Salesforce, Ramp, and Avalara is also desirable.

• Strong understanding of order-to-cash workflows, including order entry, contract review, invoicing, and fulfillment.

• Knowledge of SaaS revenue recognition principles (ASC 606) is beneficial, although not mandatory.

• CPA or equivalent certification, and/or public accounting experience, is a plus.

• Experience with outsourced and offshore operations is advantageous.
