This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Review and edit a steady flow of opinion pieces, briefs, news and feature articles, press releases, and aggregated content related to Israel and the Jewish world, ensuring consistent high quality in a timely manner.

• Identify and rectify factual inaccuracies and inconsistencies, including verifying names, dates, statistics, quotes, and links, while following up with writers when information is ambiguous or unverifiable.

• Conduct plagiarism checks as required for each article.

• Refine headlines, subheadings, and photo captions to enhance clarity and precision.

• Guarantee that all texts align with JNS editorial standards and adhere to the highest quality benchmarks.

• Publish completed articles to the CMS.

• Refresh the website as necessary (e.g., uploading breaking news items).

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 2 years of copyediting experience at news or media organizations, with a focus on US/Israel political matters, Jewish topics, and online publishing.

• Must be a native English speaker.

• Comprehensive understanding of the Israel/US political landscape and Global/American Jewish communities.

• Familiarity with WordPress and associated content management tools.

• Strong editorial experience with exceptional proofreading, communication skills, and adherence to style guides.

• Demonstrated capability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

• Experience in fact-checking and plagiarism detection is advantageous.

• Must live in and be legally eligible to work in the US.
