This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Develop and execute an organizing strategy for coalition members, alumni, fellows, and partners across Massachusetts and New England.

• Assist in shaping campaign strategies focusing on legislative policies and budget priorities.

• Organize and manage responses to unforeseen policy challenges.

• Engage with local, state, and federal elected officials regarding legislative priorities, including facilitating meetings with state administration representatives.

• Aid in policy formulation and preparation for meetings with legislators.

• Coordinate and participate in meetings with executive, legislative, municipal, business, and community leaders.

• Monitor and implement follow-up items from meetings.

• Oversee engagement and tracking information systems, ensuring relationship data is maintained in Salesforce.

• Compose internal and external policy memos, social media content, emails, advocacy documents, and presentations.

• Edit and translate advocacy and strategic documents and presentations as needed.

• Conduct research, summarize, and monitor legislation and topics pertinent to policy objectives.

• Track and participate in high-priority advocacy events, such as legislative committee hearings, board meetings, and coalition gatherings.

• Assist with special projects and initiatives through research, coordination, and execution.

• Keep organized files, records, meeting materials, and operational documentation.

• Provide strategic and logistical support for team meetings, stakeholder events, and organizational gatherings.

• Travel throughout Massachusetts for events, meetings, and convenings approximately twice a month.

• Participate in at least one all-organization event each year.

• Foster a positive, collaborative, and mission-focused team culture.


⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of professional experience.

• Educational background and/or career trajectory aligned with the role’s focal areas.

• Familiarity with the Massachusetts education policy landscape.

• Highly organized with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.

• Capability to excel in a fast-paced, mission-oriented environment.

• Flexibility to adapt to changing legislative and advocacy priorities.

• Proven ability to produce high-quality work within specified timelines and constraints.

• Competence in tracking milestones, communicating progress, dependencies, and obstacles.

• Responsible utilization of AI tools for organizing, tracking, and conveying project advancements.

• Project management expertise, including handling multiple projects, tracking milestones, and identifying risks.

• Proficient in Microsoft 365, covering Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Proficient in MS Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Zoom.

• Intermediate experience with generative AI tools such as ChatGPT and Claude.

• Preferred experience working with the Massachusetts legislature.

• Established relationships with key education nonprofits and policymakers in Massachusetts are preferred.

• Experience in event management is preferred.

• Proficiency in Monday.com or similar project management software is preferred.

• Experience with Salesforce or a comparable CRM platform is preferred.
