This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Validate the design and functionality of upper-level controls for automated sortation systems.
• Identify and resolve controls I/O problems using PLC and HMI feedback alongside fundamental electrical troubleshooting methods.
• Develop and execute PLC code, integrate subsystems, and support all on-site controls engineering activities.
• Employ “Human Machine Interface” (HMI) utilizing commercially available solutions like Ignition, Wonderware, RSView, or FactoryTalk View.
• Create and implement PLC and HMI programs to meet existing design and customer specifications under the guidance of Senior Level Controls Engineers.
• Collaborate with FORTNA staff, customer representatives, and third-party vendors to ensure comprehensive consideration of all project aspects during both design and execution stages.
• Evaluate electrical designs and deliver precise as-built drawings for approval.
• Either independently or as part of a team, commission intricate automated systems, provide site engineering assistance, and carry out system acceptance testing.
• Offer support for system commissioning efforts as necessary.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
• 2-4 years of experience in an industrial controls setting, which includes: PLC programming (Rockwell Software experience is essential, Siemens or Schneider software knowledge is advantageous).
• HMI Programming (experience with FactoryTalk View or Ignition).
• Design, implementation, and troubleshooting of input and output devices.
• Familiarity with industrial communication networks (EtherNet/IP, Devicenet, Profinet, etc.).
• Proficient in low voltage electrical design and drawing creation.
• Equivalent work experience may also be accepted as a substitute for formal education.
• Preferred experience with VFDs (networked experience is a plus).
