This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Execute routine design tasks for less complex engineering projects by applying theoretical knowledge and practical design techniques.
• Support the design of larger and more intricate automation initiatives or take charge of smaller automation projects.
• Identify and promptly communicate any changes in scope and design.
• Offer on-site support during the startup phase.
• Provide technical mentorship to junior engineering staff.
• Collaborate with team members and C&A Office Leaders to coordinate work activities.
• Generate specifications for control system installations.
• Create conceptual layouts and cost analyses for minor projects.
• Configure control systems focusing on ease of maintenance and fulfilling client expectations.
• Consult with design leaders from various disciplines to ensure seamless information exchange.
• Review and verify vendor drawings for Controls & Automation contributions.
• Conduct fieldwork to collect data and access existing control system configurations.
• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering from an accredited institution is mandatory.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) registration is a prerequisite.
• Professional Engineering (PE) registration is preferred when eligible.
• At least 1 year of relevant industrial experience in controls and automation engineering is required.
• Capability to comprehend and apply the latest ISA S88 programming standards.
• Ability to understand and implement the most current IEC 61131 programming languages and standards.
• Proficiency in understanding and applying the current ISA S84 programming standards.
• Knowledge of the current OSHA 1910.119 Management of Change regulations is essential.
• Experience with DCS, PLC, HMI, or SIS systems is necessary.
• Skill in creating precise controls hardware installation documents based on vendor equipment drawings.
• Competence in reading and interpreting PFDs, P&IDs, and instrument loop sheets.
• Familiarity with TCP/IP networking protocols is important.
• Ability to troubleshoot I/O, software, and networking issues in the field using standard isolation techniques.
• Knowledge and application of Microsoft Windows Client, Microsoft Server Operating Systems, UNIX, Linux, or VMS are required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
