This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, inventory accounting, and financial reporting.
• Take ownership of the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, emphasizing accuracy, punctuality, efficiency, and ongoing enhancement.
• Prepare and deliver financial statements, reporting packages, and business insights for internal leadership, investors, lenders, and other key stakeholders.
• Ensure that accounting records, policies, and reporting practices are upheld in compliance with GAAP and company standards.
• Collaborate with external auditors and tax consultants to facilitate successful audits, reviews, and compliance procedures.
• Act as a vital partner to the CFO and executive leadership team, offering financial insights, recommendations, and analysis to aid strategic decision-making.
• Assist in budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, and financial modeling across various channels, customers, brands, products, and significant business initiatives.
• Lead analyses related to channel profitability, customer margins, product margins, trade expenditure, inventory performance, working capital, and cash flow.
• Provide financial leadership for new business ventures, operational initiatives, capital projects, and potential M&A or integration activities.
• Bring robust financial discipline and insight to a multi-channel CPG business, which includes mass retail, digital commerce, DTC, and Amazon.
• Enhance measurement and reporting related to trade expenditure, customer deductions, accruals, promotions, chargebacks, and retailer-related financial activities.
• Create greater visibility into multi-location inventory, cost of goods sold, gross margin, and supply chain-related financial performance.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Operations, Supply Chain, Marketing, and Ecommerce to promote financial behaviors, accountability, and transparency across the organization.
• Develop, implement, and uphold robust financial controls, policies, procedures, and safeguards.
• Ensure adherence to relevant federal, state, local, payroll, sales, property, and corporate tax regulations.
• Manage cash flow, working capital, banking relationships, and liquidity planning.
• Support risk management practices, including insurance, internal controls, compliance, and governance processes.
• Spearhead the advancement of Raw Sugar’s accounting and finance systems, reporting tools, data quality, and process automation.
• Oversee finance-related data governance, KPI definitions, and reporting standards to guarantee consistent, accurate, and timely business insights.
• Collaborate with leadership to broaden the use of Power BI, dashboards, AI-enabled analytics, and automation tools that enhance forecasting, reporting, variance analysis, closing efficiency, and decision support.
• Identify and execute process improvements that decrease cycle time, enhance accuracy, strengthen controls, and enable the finance team to scale.
• Utilize data collection, analysis, interpretation, and testing to foster a fact-based culture of learning and operational enhancement.
• Build, lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting and finance team.
• Provide daily leadership to accounting managers and staff, including recruitment, training, performance management, coaching, and professional development.
• Cultivate a culture of accountability, collaboration, compassion, continuous improvement, and excellence.
• Enhance the team's capabilities to meet the company’s evolving needs as Raw Sugar continues to expand.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field; CPA or MBA preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, including leadership roles such as Controller, Senior Director, or similar.
• Experience in consumer packaged goods, beauty, personal care, food, beverage, wellness, or another inventory-driven consumer products industry is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with mass market retailers, digital commerce platforms, direct-to-consumer channels, and Amazon is strongly preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, accounting operations, internal controls, tax compliance, and auditing processes.
• Proven experience with trade spending, customer deductions, channel margin analysis, inventory accounting, multi-location inventory, working capital, and cash flow management.
• Experience within a private equity-backed, high-growth, or transformation-focused environment is highly desirable.
• Advanced technological proficiency, including strong Excel skills and familiarity with accounting systems, ERP platforms, reporting tools, and Power BI or similar BI platforms.
• Ability to leverage AI, automation, and data analytics to enhance reporting, forecasting, closing processes, controls, and business decision-making.
• Strong analytical, strategic thinking, problem-solving, and organizational capabilities.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, communicate expectations clearly, meet deadlines, and manage multiple initiatives with minimal supervision.
• Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence across various functions and build trust with stakeholders.
