This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as the main point of contact and a reliable advisor for clients in small to mid-sized businesses.
• Facilitate financial review meetings and provide guidance on intricate accounting issues.
• Recognize financial risks, opportunities, and compliance aspects that can aid client development.
• Oversee the health of client engagements and pinpoint opportunities for enhanced support or services.
• Collaborate across functions to fulfill client requirements.
• Work alongside Senior Accountants, Staff Accountants, Bookkeepers, and CFOs to ensure accurate and timely deliverables.
• Offer accounting expertise and guidance on complex financial topics.
• Assist in coordinating and prioritizing workflows with leadership.
• Share insights, best practices, and improvements in processes.
• Identify and enact efficiency and compliance enhancements.
• Contribute to training materials, process documentation, and initiatives for knowledge sharing.
• Engage in strategic internal projects.
• Keep abreast of industry trends and new technologies to enhance client service delivery.
• Represent BELAY professionally in both virtual and in-person settings.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business.
• 6–8 years of progressive experience in accounting.
• Strong expertise at the Controller level, adept at explaining financial statements, interpreting KPIs, and understanding forecasts and budgets.
• Proficient in financial closing processes and best practices.
• Experience with accounting and business platforms such as QuickBooks Online, Fathom, Shopify, Cin7, and Amazon.
• Background in advising small businesses within inventory-based retail/e-commerce, creative/project-based firms, or technology startups.
• Knowledgeable about accounting and tax methodologies as well as economic trends affecting small businesses.
• Proven ability to manage utilization, staffing, and profitability effectively.
• Strong leadership, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated capability to motivate high-performing teams.
• Established history of providing exceptional client service and strategic advice to small businesses and startups.
• Self-motivated, trustworthy, adaptable, creative, and well-organized individual.
• Excellent communication and technological skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Access to a dedicated, distraction-free home office.
• Availability during standard business hours, Monday through Friday.
• Must reside in the Eastern or Central time zone.
• Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
