This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey, +1 more state.
• Take charge of the monthly closing process, which includes reconciliations, journal entries, and the preparation of financial statements.
• Generate precise and timely P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reports for leadership and board stakeholders.
• Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable, including the collection of overdue accounts.
• Ensure compliance with tax filings, sales tax, and regulatory standards.
• Lead initiatives for QBO automation, focusing on bank feed matching, payment link workflows, and invoice reconciliation to minimize manual input.
• Identify and resolve inefficiencies within billing and collections processes.
• Develop and document scalable accounting processes that can adapt to growth and personnel changes.
• Act as the internal owner of financial systems, including QuickBooks Online, billing platforms, and associated integrations.
• Manage consolidated and individual client billing cycles, ensuring timely monthly invoicing across a large property portfolio.
• Supervise payment reconciliation and collaborate with client-facing teams to address billing discrepancies.
• Assist in budget preparation and variance analysis.
• Provide financial reporting that supports informed decision-making by the CEO, Chief of Staff, and board members.
• Collaborate closely with the Fractional CFO on forecasting, cash management, and strategic financial planning.
• Lead and mentor a small team.
• Offer training, daily guidance, and process documentation to ensure operational continuity.
• Create redundancy in key finance functions to prevent the siloing of institutional knowledge.
• At least 5 years of experience in accounting or finance.
• Preferred hands-on expertise in QuickBooks Online; experience with automation and integrations is highly desirable.
• Strong focus on process improvement; you identify inefficiencies and implement solutions.
• Ability to work independently with a strong sense of ownership and minimal bureaucracy.
• Experience in managing or mentoring at least one direct report.
• CPA certification is preferred but not mandatory.
• Exceptional attention to detail paired with the ability to understand the broader financial context.
• Clear and direct communicator, capable of engaging with leadership and cross-functional teams.
