
Controller – CFO Potential, Behavioral Healthcare

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.
• Oversee all essential financial operations, which encompass monthly closings, consolidated financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and comprehensive variance analysis across various sites and programs.
• Manage cost reporting specific to healthcare, optimize the revenue cycle, oversee reimbursement management, and analyze payer contracts.
• Deliver strategic financial insights to executive leadership and operational teams to enhance program profitability, manage costs, and facilitate informed decision-making.
• Supervise and develop a small finance team (currently comprising 1.5–2 members) while maintaining an active role in accounting and reporting tasks.
• Assist with due diligence, financial modeling, and integration processes for acquisitions and the launch of new centers.
• Ensure robust internal controls, adherence to behavioral health regulations, and preparedness for audits and regulatory assessments.
• Establish scalable processes, systems, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to professionalize financial operations as the organization expands.
• Create clear, executive-level financial presentations for leadership and board meetings.
• More than 7 years of progressive experience in healthcare finance, with the latest years in a Controller position (or a similar senior role) within a provider setting — preferably in behavioral health, residential treatment, psychiatric services, nursing home/long-term care, or comparable multi-site healthcare organizations.
• Extensive hands-on experience with healthcare budgeting, cost reporting, revenue cycle management, and reimbursement models.
• Proven success in managing financial operations across a multi-location or multi-state environment experiencing rapid growth.
• Demonstrated capability to lead and develop a small team while remaining actively engaged in daily execution.
• Strong technical proficiency, including advanced Excel skills and familiarity with ERP/accounting systems (experience in optimizing or implementing these systems is highly regarded).
• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required; a CPA and/or MBA is strongly preferred.
