This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take full ownership of the accounting function from start to finish, encompassing close processes, audit preparedness, technical accounting, GAAP compliance, and essential reporting operations.
• Lead and nurture the accounting team, starting with direct management of 2 reports while overseeing the entire team structure.
• Create a strategic 12-month roadmap for the advancement of the accounting function.
• Accelerate close timelines, minimize manual tasks, and enhance accounting systems and procedures.
• Collaborate with Product, Revenue, Customer Success, and Finance during early decision-making phases.
• Provide guidance on accounting decisions pertaining to new products, pricing or packaging modifications, contract structures, and various business changes.
• Assess team structure and priorities, making necessary adjustments to the operating model, sequencing, or resource allocation.
• Leverage AI to expedite the close process, lessen manual reviews, enhance decision-making, and create repeatable workflows with the necessary checks in place.
• Confirm the accuracy of AI outputs before they impact the financial records.
• CPA certification is mandatory; the application will inquire if the candidate currently possesses an active CPA license.
• A minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting experience is required.
• Significant experience in a controller role or operating at a near-controller capacity.
• Strong expertise in technical accounting, GAAP standards, audit management, and accounting controls.
• Proven experience in managing an audit and close process with full ownership.
• A history of enhancing accounting operations in a streamlined environment.
• Experience in guiding teams through process transformation, system upgrades, or organizational restructuring.
• Capability to make independent recommendations and decisions with sound rationale.
• Strong cross-functional instincts and the ability to influence decisions upstream.
• Experience in SaaS or other subscription-based revenue environments is beneficial.
• Background in transaction-based or operationally complex models is a plus.
• Practical experience with contemporary accounting tools is preferred.
• Familiarity with Rillet, Tabs, or other modern accounting systems will be advantageous.
• Proficient use of AI in accounting operations, including real-world examples of application and validation of outputs.
