This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama.
• Direct all aspects of accounting operations, encompassing general ledger management, consolidations, intercompany eliminations, account reconciliations, accruals, and the month-end/year-end closing process.
• Supervise financial reporting for both internal leadership and external clients, ensuring adherence to U.S. GAAP (or relevant standards) and regulatory obligations.
• Lead, mentor, and cultivate accounting teams, ensuring effective communication, balanced workloads, and consistent execution across different time zones.
• Manage the internal control framework by designing, implementing, and monitoring accounting policies, procedures, and controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance.
• Oversee audit and tax relationships by coordinating with external auditors, advisors, and internal stakeholders to facilitate timely filings and audits.
• Collaborate with FP&A and operations teams to assist in budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis.
• Promote process improvements and automation initiatives by utilizing systems and tools to optimize workflows, enhance accuracy, and improve reporting efficiency.
• Lead system implementations, integrations, or transitions regarding ERP, accounting, or reporting platforms.
• Offer strategic accounting insights to executive leadership on business decisions, growth initiatives, and financial risks/opportunities.
• Assist with special projects including M&A integrations, entity restructuring, and global expansion.
• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
• CPA certification is mandatory.
• Extensive accounting experience, including roles in leadership or controller capacities.
• Experience managing remote or global accounting teams is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal control frameworks (exposure to SOX is a plus).
• Proven ability to lead complex month-end and year-end closing processes in multi-entity or multi-client environments.
• High proficiency in technical systems, including ERP (Sage), advanced Excel, and accounting automation tools.
