📋 Description

• Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes.

• Prepare financial statements in accordance with US GAAP, including balance sheet reconciliations and reporting.

• Supply leadership with reliable actuals and comprehensive explanations of financial outcomes.

• Facilitate ASC 606 evaluations for subscriptions, term licenses, usage arrangements, and implementation services.

• Document performance obligations, allocation methods, recognition timing, and modifications to contracts.

• Reconcile billing, cash receipts, deferred revenue, contract assets, and remaining performance obligations against the ledger.

• Collaborate with Legal, Sales, and public sector program managers on contract-specific billing, project and labor cost tracking, and required documentation.

• Apply contract-specific requirements and work with specialists as necessary.

• Develop appropriate controls and approval workflows.

• Oversee the financial statement audit and prepare organized support for accounting diligence.

• Coordinate tax, equity compensation, and international accounting with advisors when applicable.

• Supervise payables, receivables and collections, expense management, payroll accounting, and treasury controls.

• Enhance transitions between CRM, contracts, billing, payroll, and the ERP system.

• Lead accounting personnel and external service providers.

• Automate recurring tasks and foster team development.

• Collaborate with FP&A on actuals and forecast inputs while managing accounting policies and conclusions.

• Create a reliable closing calendar, reconciled balance sheet accounts, documented revenue policies, contract schedules linked to the ledger, and a prioritized systems and controls strategy.

⛳️ Requirements

• Direct responsibility for monthly, quarterly, and annual closes and financial reporting in a growing software or technology environment.

• Strong judgment in US GAAP and software ASC 606 matters.

• Proven experience in managing financial statement audits.

• Capability to translate complex accounting issues into clear documentation, policies, and operational processes.

• Proven track record in enhancing reconciliations, internal controls, accounting systems, and data integrity.

• Ability to lead internal staff or external accounting service providers.

• Educational background in accounting or equivalent professional experience.

• Strong judgment, meticulous attention to detail, and accountability for producing reliable results.

• Proactive and inquisitive attitude towards leveraging AI for automation, ideation, or decision-making.

• Familiarity with QuickBooks Online, NetSuite ERP, accounts payable automation, expense management, and other financial systems.

• Solid understanding of fundamental accounting processes and internal controls.

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• CPA certification, public accounting experience, or experience leading external audits is preferred but not required.

• Experience scaling accounting functions in a venture-backed software firm is preferred but not required.

• Familiarity with commercial and government software contracts, channel arrangements, FAR, DFARS, DCAA, or cost accounting requirements is preferred but not required.

• Experience in equity accounting, software development cost accounting, international entities, or multi-currency operations is preferred but not required.
