This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Leading the operations of accounting, reporting systems, and transaction processing while adhering to GAAP and regulatory standards.
• Ensuring the month-end accounting close is completed accurately and on time, providing the FP&A team with necessary data for variance analysis and reporting.
• Coordinating and finalizing annual external audits along with necessary filings, including IRS Form 990.
• Managing external compliance matters such as tax receipts, 1099 forms, and state registrations.
• Overseeing treasury operations and associated internal controls.
• Designing, implementing, and maintaining internal controls to protect organizational assets.
• Developing and sustaining policies and training programs related to procurement, payments, employee expenses, and related processes.
• Ensuring appropriate stewardship and compliance concerning donor-restricted funds.
• Identifying and evaluating accounting, compliance, and operational risks.
• Leading, mentoring, and developing the accounting team.
• Managing the relationship with Charity Navigator, including overseeing all necessary portal submissions.
• Ensuring timely submission of federal, state, and local regulatory filings and registrations.
• Supporting the implementation and enhancement of accounting and financial reporting systems (e.g., NetSuite and associated tools) with a focus on:
• maintaining robust system security and controls and
• optimizing the chart of accounts to better support critical business needs.
• Overseeing the organization's insurance portfolio to ensure adequate coverage and protections.
• Collaborating with organizational leaders to support cross-functional initiatives and operational requirements.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Over 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including non-profit accounting and successful audit management.
• Active CPA license required.
• Strong experience in managing clean financial statement audits and internal controls.
• Experience collaborating with senior leaders on financial reporting and operational issues.
• Proven ability to lead and develop a high-performing accounting team.
• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite) and CRM platforms such as Salesforce.
• Comfortable working in fast-paced or evolving environments.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teams across FP&A, engineering, HR, and fundraising.
