This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Lead the finance function for our clients, providing comprehensive oversight.
• Take charge of all aspects of financial reporting.
• Establish and enforce financial reporting policies that comply with GAAP.
• Possess a robust understanding of GAAP revenue recognition principles.
• Supervise accounting personnel and review month-end reconciliation processes.
• Manage payroll operations, which may include processing payroll.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and support clients in analyzing their financial outcomes.
• Develop financial budgets and conduct monthly variance analysis between budgets and actuals.
• Create and implement effective internal controls and processes, leveraging technology where applicable.
• Fulfill required investor reporting and assist clients with preparations for board meetings.
• Guide the company through necessary third-party audits or reviews.
• Oversee treasury functions, including cash flow management and forecasting.
• Ensure tax compliance and management.
• Aid in the administration of stock option plans and cap table management.
• Support various ad-hoc requests from clients.
• At least 5 years of experience in accounting.
• Minimum of 3 years as an Accounting Manager or in a higher role.
• Professional accounting designation, such as CPA or equivalent.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in English is required.
• Experience with venture-backed tech startups is a plus.
• Excellent time management and self-management capabilities.
• Familiarity with QuickBooks Online and/or Xero.
• Advanced skills in Excel.
• General knowledge of tax matters, including HST.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• High ethical standards and confidentiality when handling sensitive data.
• Capacity to exercise sound judgment, take initiative, and maintain proactivity.
• Ability to cultivate strong relationships with clients and colleagues.
• Capability to work independently or collaboratively within a team.
