This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Provide strategic and operational direction for the organization's accounting function.

• Ensure financial accuracy, regulatory adherence, and scalable systems that facilitate a remote-first workforce.

• Oversee intricate nonprofit accounting across a diverse funding portfolio.

• Lead general ledger operations, including effective month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.

• Guarantee timely and precise preparation of financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards.

• Maintain and strengthen robust internal controls across distributed teams.

• Manage, mentor, and cultivate the accounting team.

• Assist the Grants and Contracts team by ensuring accounting compliance with 2 CFR 200.

• Oversee accounting for both restricted and unrestricted contributions.

• Act as the primary liaison with external auditors.

• Lead the preparation and coordination of annual financial statement audits and Single Audits.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.

• CPA is strongly preferred (or equivalent advanced certification/experience).

• A minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience.

• Extensive experience in nonprofit organizations.

• Proven leadership in federal/state grants management, nonprofit GAAP, regulatory compliance, and audit processes (including Single Audits).

• Expert knowledge of ASC 958, ASC 606, and ASC 842.

• Strong comprehension of Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200).

• Advanced experience with grants and government contracting systems (e.g., Unanet, Deltek, Sage Intacct).

• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

• Capability to lead and collaborate effectively in a remote-first setting.
