This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes, including the preparation and review of consolidations, journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements in line with GAAP or IFRS standards.
• Ensure the precision and completeness of financial reports generated for senior leadership, the CFO, and external stakeholders.
• Review and approve financial data prepared by the accounting team, identifying and rectifying discrepancies or reporting deficiencies prior to distribution.
• Lead the preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules necessary for audits, regulatory compliance, and governance purposes.
• Oversee accounting close timelines and proactively tackle bottlenecks to guarantee that deadlines are consistently achieved.
• Uphold and enforce accounting policies and internal controls to maintain financial integrity and mitigate risks across the organization.
• Act as the functional owner of the ERP platform, responsible for system administration, configuration, data integrity, and ongoing optimization to facilitate accounting operations.
• Monitor the health of the ERP system and workflow efficiency, identifying and resolving issues that impact data accuracy or operational continuity.
• Lead or assist with ERP-related projects such as system upgrades, module implementations, and integration testing, collaborating with IT and Finance stakeholders.
• Provide oversight and guidance over accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit and collections, and expense reporting functions, ensuring all processes function accurately and adhere to policy.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant tax obligations across jurisdictions, working with external tax advisors to manage filings, positions, and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee fixed asset management, support procurement and purchasing processes, and lead, develop, and manage the accounting team.
• At least 10 years of relevant experience in a progressively senior or leadership role in accounting.
• Bachelor's degree and CPA designation (mandatory).
• Strongly preferred: Experience in a global, complex multi-entity environment within a professional services or contract research organization (US, EU, LATAM, etc.).
• In-depth knowledge of GAAP and/or IFRS financial reporting and full-cycle accounting, including consolidations and multi-entity structures.
• Strong understanding of tax compliance principles, transfer pricing regulations, and audit management in a multi-jurisdictional setting.
• Proven experience in leading and managing accounting teams, including performance management, workload planning, and professional development.
• Practical experience in administering and optimizing ERP platforms within a Finance context, including configuration, data integrity, and integration management.
• Proficient in accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit and collections, and fixed asset management operations.
• Familiarity with procurement and purchasing processes and the controls necessary to ensure compliance.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of identifying the root causes of financial discrepancies and implementing effective corrective measures.
• High attention to detail and accuracy in the preparation and review of financial data and reports.
