This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of AirGarage’s accounting operations and oversee the monthly closing process.
• Manage revenue recognition, reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, payroll coordination, and ensure the integrity of financial statements.
• Transition the company to full accrual accounting and implement GAAP revenue recognition practices.
• Lead the migration from QuickBooks to a contemporary ERP system, encompassing selection, implementation, data migration, integrations, and change management.
• Revamp the chart of accounts for location-based, team-based, and corporate reporting purposes.
• Integrate accounting systems with transaction and operational data to establish a unified source of truth.
• Oversee indirect tax, parking taxes, regulatory fees, and ensure compliance with multi-jurisdiction sales and use tax.
• Develop controls and processes in preparation for the initial financial statement audit.
• Supervise, mentor, and cultivate the in-house accounting team.
• Collaborate with Operations, Sales, and Product teams on billing, collections, revenue sharing, and ensuring reporting accuracy.
• Provide timely monthly financial statements and supporting schedules to leadership, the board, and investors.
• CPA (or equivalent qualification) with a robust understanding of GAAP, particularly in transactional or marketplace revenue recognition.
• Proven experience as the lead accounting executive—Controller, Assistant Controller, or Director of Accounting—at a venture-backed firm during periods of rapid growth.
• Demonstrated experience in leading a migration from QuickBooks to a modern ERP system.
• Background in converting cash-basis or hybrid accounting to full accrual accounting.
• Experience in preparing for and conducting financial statement audits.
• Ability to collaborate with data teams, manage data pipelines, and automate system-of-record processes.
• Hands-on experience in accounting operations, including maintaining close checklists and reconciliations.
• Familiarity with multi-location, multi-jurisdiction, revenue-sharing, or payment-intensive businesses.
• Strong accounting judgment, proactive approach, and readiness to engage in a hands-on capacity within a lean team.
• Background with Big Four or top regional firms, coupled with startup operating experience, is highly preferred.
• Experience with indirect tax, sales tax, regulatory fees, payment processors, marketplace money movement, and modern accounting tools is strongly preferred.
• Willingness to work extended hours, including nights and weekends.
• Ability to travel for approximately six weeks per year for offsites, location launches, and in-person onboarding.
• Successful completion of a background check and employment verification is mandatory.
• Must possess legal authorization to work in the United States; visa sponsorship details will be addressed during the application process.
