Controller, Accounting Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alaska.

📋 Description

• Oversee and direct the daily accounting operations while managing the Accountant and Accounts Payable/Payroll Generalist.

• Take ownership of the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, providing timely and useful financial reports for decision-making.

• Ensure a robust internal control framework is maintained for cash, receivables, payables, payroll accounting, grants, and restricted funds.

• Organize the annual financial statement audit and assist with any related single audit or compliance requirements for grants.

• Act as a knowledgeable technical accounting resource capable of proactively identifying risks related to accounting, reporting, and compliance, while advising leadership on the financial implications of various decisions.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is required.

• CPA designation is highly preferred.

• A minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience is necessary.

• At least 3 years of supervisory experience is required.

• Experience in nonprofit accounting is mandatory.

• Audit experience is essential.

• Grant management experience is preferred.

• Familiarity with healthcare, behavioral health, or human services is a plus.

• A solid understanding of GAAP and nonprofit fund accounting is crucial.

• Strong knowledge of grant compliance and Uniform Guidance is required.

• Experience with Sage Intacct or comparable systems is necessary.

• Proficiency in advanced Excel and financial reporting is essential.

• Capability to manage sensitive financial and compliance-related information is required.
