Contract Staff Software Engineer – C++, Storage Encryption

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Execute tasks related to Storage Encryption Everywhere within the Gecko engine of Firefox.

• Transition data across various schemas.

• Develop data storage solutions in PBM and conduct integration testing.

• Compose and successfully pass Web Platform Tests while adding necessary Gecko tests.

• Collaborate with relevant Gecko module owners during the code review process and iterate towards successful integration.

• Identify and assist in addressing specification inquiries that arise during implementation.

• Guide the feature through the Nightly, Beta, and Release stages.

• Resolve correctness and performance issues, as well as regressions.

• Deploy Storage Encryption Everywhere to the release channel and address prioritized, triaged issues.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficiency in C++ programming.

• Significant experience working with a browser-engine codebase, preferably Firefox/Gecko.

• Extensive experience with database systems.

• Knowledge of web standards and Web Platform Tests.

• Strong skills in debugging and optimization within a multithreaded environment.

• Ability to work transparently in a public setting: handling public bugs, participating in code reviews, and contributing to upstream integration.
