Contract Staff Software Engineer – C++, Storage Encryption

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada, +2 more countries.

📋 Description

• Assist the Firefox DOM LWS team in executing tasks for Storage Encryption Everywhere.

• Play a key role in implementing Storage Encryption Everywhere in Gecko, which includes migrating data across schemas, establishing data storage in PBM, and conducting integration testing.

• Develop and successfully run Web Platform Tests, while also adding Gecko tests as necessary.

• Engage in code reviews with pertinent Gecko module owners and refine the code until it is ready for landing.

• Address and clarify specification inquiries that arise during implementation.

• Guide the feature through Nightly, Beta, and Release stages; rectify correctness, performance, and regression issues.

• Launch Storage Encryption Everywhere to the release channel and resolve prioritized, triaged issues.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in C++.

• Extensive experience with a browser-engine codebase, preferably Firefox/Gecko.

• Significant experience with databases.

• Knowledge of web standards and familiarity with Web Platform Tests.

• Strong skills in debugging and optimizing within a multithreaded codebase.

• Comfortable working in an open environment: managing public bugs, participating in code reviews, and contributing to upstream projects.
