Contract Attorney – Creditors' Rights

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Manage a designated caseload involving creditors' rights issues, which encompasses foreclosure, collections, bankruptcy, title, eviction, and associated default servicing tasks, from initial referral to resolution.

• Draft, review, and authorize pleadings, motions, affidavits, notices, correspondence, and various other legal documents.

• Offer legal oversight and direction on foreclosure processes, collections litigation, and related creditors' rights issues.

• Participate in hearings, mediations, conferences, trials, and other court-related proceedings as necessary, either in person or remotely based on jurisdiction.

• Ensure that case activities are in compliance with federal and state laws, regulatory standards, investor guidelines, and client service protocols.

• Evaluate legal strategies and assess risks, escalations, and exceptions related to cases.

• Relay case status updates, legal analysis, and recommendations to internal operations teams, firm leadership, and clients.

• Keep precise and timely records in case management systems.

• Promote ongoing enhancements in legal workflows, compliance, and client service delivery.

⛳️ Requirements

• Active law license in good standing in at least one of the following states: New York, Pennsylvania, and/or Ohio.

• Preference for multi-state admission.

• Background in foreclosure, creditors' rights, litigation, mortgage default servicing, collections, or related fields is preferred.

• Excellent written communication and case management capabilities.

• Ability to work autonomously and meet deadlines in a remote setting.

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

• Previous experience in creditors' rights, consumer debt collections, or civil litigation is preferred; however, newly admitted attorneys with strong litigation training will be considered.

• Familiarity with the FDCPA and pertinent state consumer protection and collections laws.

• Comfortable managing high-volume caseloads and utilizing court e-filing systems.

• Strong skills in legal research, writing, and courtroom advocacy.

• Must be authorized to work in the United States.

• Must complete the I-9 form and provide proof of identity and work eligibility.
