Contingent Summer Research Analyst Intern

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• Assist in the construction and quality control of longitudinal electronic health record (EHR) analytic files utilizing structured data.

• Perform descriptive analyses of patient demographics, laboratory values, medication usage, and clinical characteristics.

• Compile summaries of data availability, follow-up patterns, and measurement frequency across chronic kidney disease (CKD) subgroups.

• Aid in feasibility assessments by generating counts, proportions, and distribution summaries.

• Create clean, well-documented analytic code and assist in drafting tables and figures.

• Engage in biweekly internal team meetings and client meetings, contributing to written deliverables.

⛳️ Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a graduate program (MPH, MS, PhD, or equivalent) in biostatistics, epidemiology, data science, health informatics, or a related discipline.

• Proficient in Python, R, or SAS for data manipulation and descriptive analytics.

• Comfortable working with large and complex real-world datasets.

• Strong attention to detail with the capability to write clean, reproducible, and well-commented code.

• Ability to work independently with remote supervision.

• Familiarity with using AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., Claude, GitHub Copilot).

• Knowledge of EHR data or claims-based data is preferred.

• Experience with longitudinal data structures (e.g., repeated lab measurements, time-to-event) is preferred.

• Familiarity with version control systems (Git) is preferred.
