This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Participate in weekly consultation meetings with behavioral health care managers to review the patient registry associated with the Collaborative Care Model.
• Assist the consulting psychiatrist in assessing treatment plans and making medication recommendations for oncology patients experiencing psychiatric co-occurring conditions.
• Deliver direct psychiatric evaluations and treatments, including prescribing psychiatric medications as appropriate and within the scope of practice.
• Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the interactions between psychiatric medications and common oncology treatments, under the supervision of the consulting psychiatrist.
• Communicate treatment support and coordinate care with oncology teams in accordance with Protocol’s clinical standards.
• Assess psychiatric risks within the context of oncology care, including considerations of suicidal ideation, trauma responses, and the psychiatric effects of cancer diagnoses and treatments.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team consisting of behavioral health care managers, oncology providers, and external psychiatric professionals as necessary.
• Engage in initial and ongoing training as required by Protocol.
• Participate in ongoing supervision and departmental meetings as needed.
• Maintain licensure in the home state and acquire licensure in additional states as requested by Protocol (licensing fees for licenses requested by Protocol will be covered).
• Undertake other assigned responsibilities.
• A valid, unrestricted license in at least one US state as one of the following, with a preference for licensure in New York:
• Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC), or
• Physician Assistant (PA-C) with proven psychiatric training, experience, or certification (e.g., CAQ-Psychiatry or equivalent).
• Capability to manage a caseload of patients with diverse diagnoses, backgrounds, and cultures, and varying levels of acuity.
• Experience working with patients in oncology and/or those with chronic or serious medical conditions.
• Experience in supporting patients dealing with suicidal ideation and/or trauma.
• Comfort in treating co-occurring psychiatric conditions, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, adjustment disorders, and ADHD within a medically intricate population.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a supervised care model, showing openness to clinical oversight and team-oriented decision-making.
• Excellent communication skills and responsiveness to patient and team messages in a timely manner.
• Licensing costs for licenses requested by Protocol will be covered.
