Consulting Engineer – Government Cloud Managed Services

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Implement tools, processes, and operational standards focused on Government Cloud for Managed Services delivery across Azure Government, Azure GCC High, AWS GovCloud, or Google Cloud Assured Workloads.

• Design, configure, and operationalize secure cloud landing zones that meet CDW Managed Services standards and customer security requirements.

• Support customer onboarding, implementation, transition readiness, operational acceptance, and the handoff to production.

• Adhere to change management, security, testing, validation, and deployment processes.

• Participate in an on-call rotation.

• Develop architecture validation, implementation plans, runbooks, operational procedures, knowledge articles, and transition documentation.

• Implement solutions for monitoring, alerting, observability, backup, disaster recovery, and operational management.

• Configure cloud governance, identity, networking, security controls, logging, and operational standards.

• Build repeatable automation using Infrastructure as Code, scripting, configuration management, and orchestration technologies.

• Engage in customer design reviews, implementation workshops, technical planning sessions, and operational readiness reviews.

• Communicate technical issues, implementation risks, recommendations, and project status to customers, project teams, and leadership.

• Collaborate with Cloud Architects, Security Engineering, Project Management, Customer Success, Managed Operations, and Sales Engineering.

• Assist in pre-sales technical engagements.

• Validate operational readiness prior to the transition to production support.

• Support security reviews, compliance validation, audit requests, and Government Cloud controls.

• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to Government Cloud standards, reusable templates, automation, and best practices.

• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

• Attend technical training and maintain relevant certifications.

• Comply with time management, documentation standards, and project management requirements.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with 5 years of IT engineering experience in cloud, infrastructure, systems, networking, or platform engineering, OR 8 years of equivalent professional IT engineering experience.

• At least 3 years of experience supporting Government cloud environments.

• Hands-on experience with Azure Government, Azure GCC High, AWS GovCloud, or Google Cloud Assured Workloads.

• Experience in designing and implementing secure cloud landing zones, cloud governance, networking, identity, monitoring, automation, backup, and disaster recovery solutions.

• Strong understanding of Government Cloud operational models, Managed Services delivery, and customer onboarding processes.

• Familiarity with FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, CMMC, CJIS, ITAR, or other Government security frameworks.

• Experience creating implementation plans, operational runbooks, knowledge documentation, and operational handoff documentation.

• Experience in supporting enterprise multi-cloud environments.

• Ability to resolve customer-impacting issues while managing project priorities, service level commitments, and operational requirements.

• Proven ability to build customer trust through technical expertise, communication, and professionalism.

• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and organizational skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

• Capacity to manage multiple customer projects simultaneously while adhering to project deadlines.

• Strong customer-service orientation with excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills.

• Self-motivated with a continuous learning mindset and a willingness to mentor peers.

• Experience in Managed Services environments is a plus.

• Familiarity with ITSM, observability, automation, and cloud management platforms is a plus.

• Advanced-level certifications in at least two major cloud providers are a plus.

• Knowledge of cloud compute, storage, networking, identity, backup, disaster recovery, migration, onboarding, governance, Infrastructure as Code, monitoring, ITSM, cloud security, cost/performance management, DNS, DHCP, VPN, routing, load balancing, firewalls, segmentation, and secure connectivity is a plus.

• Base salary ranging from $77,725 to $108,265 based on experience and skill set.
