Consultant – Validation of Dog-Mediated Rabies Elimination and Bat Rabies Prevention

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.

📋 Description

• Facilitate the recognition of Trinidad and Tobago as the second PAHO country to effectively document the elimination of dog-mediated rabies as a public health concern.

• Examine and identify any gaps in coordination, communication, and collaboration within the Ministry of Health and associated authorities.

• Equip the country to respond more effectively to any emerging or persistent zoonotic infections.

• Compile a comprehensive Dossier of evidence for submission to WHO, seeking validation that rabies transmitted by dogs has been eradicated as a public health issue in Trinidad and Tobago.

• Record any gaps or challenges in gathering information for assessment by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries and the Ministry of Health.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in human or animal health sciences from an accredited institution.

• At least 7 years of national experience collaborating with various health ministry programs.

• Proficiency in data analysis, impact assessment, or related research.

• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in zoonotic or vector-borne disease prevention, veterinary health services, and/or microbiology laboratory operations.

• Experience working with Ministries of Health or national regulatory bodies.

• Understanding of health systems and operational frameworks.

• Excellent analytical and research capabilities.

• Strong professional writing proficiency.

• Skills in project management and coordination.

• Competence in stakeholder engagement and facilitation.
