Consultant Psychiatrist – GMC-registered

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Conduct psychiatric consultations via video for patients considering CBMP treatment, encompassing new assessments and ongoing evaluations.

• Make prescribing decisions based on evidence within the framework of clinical governance.

• Collaborate with pharmacists and nurses as part of a multidisciplinary team.

• Engage in the collection of clinical outcome data to enhance the UK evidence base for CBMPs in psychiatry.

• Contribute to clinical governance, MDT meetings, and the ongoing enhancement of prescribing protocols.

• For senior candidates, participate in or lead governance, prescribing policy, and clinical strategy at the Medical Director level.

• Complete clinical induction that includes observing three MDT meetings and shadowing three full patient consultations.

• Take part in high-risk and 18–24-year-old patient registers and apply enhanced monitoring protocols.

• Obtain informed consent and evaluate mental capacity in accordance with the Mental Capacity Act 2005.

• Prescribe using independent clinical judgment without targets related to volume, revenue, or product selection.

• Engage in monthly clinical audits.

• Maintain GMC revalidation and good standing and report any changes in registration.

⛳️ Requirements

• Full GMC Registration with a license to practice in the UK.

• Completion of Specialist Training (CCT/CCST) or an equivalent qualification.

• Listed on the GMC Specialist Register for Psychiatry.

• A genuine interest in alternative therapies and the developing evidence surrounding CBMPs.

• Comfortable operating in a digital-first, telemedicine environment.

• Willingness to engage in structured data collection and outcome reporting.

• Completion of mandatory training prior to patient-facing responsibilities, including role-specific modules and annual or triennial updates.

• Report incidents and significant events through the established incident reporting process.

• Adhere to patient confidentiality and information governance standards.

• Enhanced DBS check must be completed before starting.

• Previous CBMP experience or a commitment to complete a recognized Medical Cannabis Course for Specialist Physicians is preferred.

• Experience in private clinics, telemedicine, or digital health environments is preferred.

• Interest in pursuing a Medical Director track or influencing clinical pathways is preferred.
