Consultant – Culture, 2030 Indicators Programme

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in France.

📋 Description

• Assist in the design, coordination, and execution of activities under the UNESCO Culture|2030 Indicators programme.

• Collaborate closely with relevant stakeholders and under the technical guidance of UNESCO International Experts.

• Plan, monitor, and assess programme activities in accordance with the approved Programme and Budget of designated projects.

• Review and aid in the finalization of project outputs for 10 countries and 10 cities; in partnership with UNESCO Culture|2030 Indicators Experts, enhance the submissions from countries and cities to create validated and finalized data tables, national/urban reports, and culture profiles.

• Develop and articulate project proposals and cost estimates for countries and cities aiming to implement the UNESCO Culture|2030 Indicators.

• Assist field offices in crafting concept notes and project proposals.

• Contribute to the refinement of the UNESCO Culture|2030 Indicators methodology in collaboration with International Experts and the UNESCO Institute for Statistics.

• Research, suggest, and participate in the enhancement and expansion of a knowledge base on the programme and capacity building for implementation, supporting the development and/or enhancement of knowledge products.

• Keep the UNESCO Culture|2030 Indicators Data Bank design up-to-date, considering methodological advancements and the requirements for visually representing the analysis of results.

• Analyze data from the worldwide implementation of the UNESCO Culture|2030 Indicators initiative, compile the global dataset for the UNESCO Culture|2030 Indicators, and develop data models to aggregate results by region and/or specific themes.

⛳️ Requirements

• A university degree or Master's degree in economics, financial economics, econometrics, or business administration.

• A minimum of 10 years of pertinent experience at the international level in Sustainable Development and Culture or Cultural statistics, including significant experience in roles involving international collaboration, global frameworks, or cross-country analysis.

• Proven knowledge and experience in the field of culture (particularly UNESCO Conventions and Programmes, and culture-related data).

• Established knowledge and experience in the realm of cultural statistics.

• Demonstrated expertise in managing and navigating multidisciplinary groups of experts, professionals, and organizations across various countries and at different scales, from national to local (city) levels.

• Proven experience in budget planning, monitoring, and execution, along with the ability to communicate project implementation actions and results effectively.

• Recognized diplomatic skills in communicating sensitively and effectively across diverse constituencies, countries, and cultural groups.

• Outstanding communication and writing skills.

• Demonstrated capability to conceptualize issues and analyze data to compile and synthesize information into coherent and concise formats; excellent coordination and project management skills to ensure timely and high-quality delivery; proven ability to use office equipment with computer literacy in graphic design, publication design, multimedia product development, web design, and web content.

• Familiarity with UNESCO systems, including SAP and Core Manager; experience in managing donor-funded programmes and grants.

• Understanding of UNESCO’s processes related to projects funded by voluntary contributions.
