• Spearhead the creation of Independent Cost Estimates (ICE), Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) estimates, and comprehensive bid estimates throughout all design phases.
• Execute quantity take-offs and formulate labor, material, and equipment cost estimates across all trades.
• Oversee the solicitation of subcontractors, bid leveling, negotiation, and award processes.
• Conduct constructability assessments and value engineering to enhance project cost efficiency and scheduling.
• Create thorough General Conditions estimates that align with project timelines.
• Collaborate with engineering, development, procurement, and construction teams.
• Manage RFI processes and assist with bid documentation in Procore.
• Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and quality standards.
• Assist in the development of proposals, including pricing structures and cost narratives.
• Build and nurture robust relationships with subcontractors across the national landscape.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 7 years of experience in commercial or utility-scale construction estimating.
• Capability to review confidential US security information.
• Willingness to travel 10–25% as required.
• 5 years of experience with federal and non-federal construction projects, including adherence to federal contracting requirements.
• Extensive background in renewable energy projects, particularly utility-scale solar (PV), Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and data center infrastructure.
• Strong expertise with Procore for RFI management, document control, and construction coordination.
• Advanced experience using RSMeans or equivalent cost databases for benchmarking and validation.
• Comprehensive project lifecycle experience from development through construction and closeout.
• Experience with high-voltage and medium-voltage systems (substations, transmission, and distribution).
• Proven ability to lead preconstruction teams and manage multiple projects concurrently.
• In-depth understanding of market conditions, labor productivity, and regional pricing differences.
• Experience in developing risk-based contingency and escalation strategies.
• Familiarity with estimating software such as HCSS, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, or similar tools.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder coordination skills.
• Possess a valid driver’s license in good standing.
• Maintain an “open mind” regarding learning new skills and collaborating with a diverse group of engineering, construction, and subcontractor professionals.
