Conservative Writer Intern

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Develop political content for ONC, including OpEds and Policy Proposals for the website.

• Collaborate with the Core Content Writers team to create cohesive website content.

• Ensure that published works reflect nonpartisanship, ideological diversity, and civil discourse.

• Engage in civil discussions with writers from conservative, progressive, and moderate backgrounds.

• Concentrate on policy topics such as Governance, Economics, Infrastructure, Healthcare, Foreign Policy and Defense, Justice and Public Safety, Social Issues, and Science, Environment, and Technology.

• Participate in podcasts, events, and other assignments as required.

• Collaborate on political discussions in a respectful, nonpartisan setting.

• Potentially contribute to writing a book that will be published by ONC.

• Attend weekly Core Content Department meetings held on Fridays at 6:30 p.m. EST.

• Coordinate tasks primarily through Zoom and Slack.

⛳️ Requirements

• Currently pursuing a degree in Political Science, Journalism, English or Literature, Public Policy, Media Studies, International Relations, or related fields.

• Outstanding writing skills in English.

• Proficient verbal communication skills are advantageous.

• Be a responsive, consistent, and effective communicator, even in challenging situations.

• Prior experience in policy research, political commentary, political science, or a related field is preferred.

• Demonstrate enthusiasm for ONC’s mission and values, including a willingness to engage in respectful debate with individuals holding diverse and opposing political views.

• Capability to work remotely and manage one’s own schedule to meet deadlines.

• Familiarity with Google Workspace is preferred.

• Ability to attend weekly Organization-Wide meetings.

• Availability for weekly Core Content Department meetings.

• Must be authorized to intern in the U.S.

• Commitment to at least the end of the current semester is required.

• Submission of a writing sample is mandatory with the application.

• Comfort with coordinating via Zoom and Slack is necessary.

• Interest and experience in at least one of ONC’s eight policy areas, preferably two or three.
