Conservative Writer Intern

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Develop political content for ONC, including top-quality OpEds and Policy Proposals for the website.

• Collaborate with a team of Core Content writers to create consistent website material.

• Ensure that published work reflects nonpartisanship, ideological diversity, and civil discourse.

• Engage in civil discussions with conservative, progressive, and moderate writers across eight policy areas.

• Participate in podcasts, events, and other assignments as required.

• Potentially contribute to writing a book that will be published by ONC.

• Primarily coordinate through Zoom and Slack.

• Attend weekly Organization-Wide meetings and Friday Core Content Department meetings at 6:30pm EST.

⛳️ Requirements

• Currently pursuing a degree in Political Science, Journalism, English or Literature, Public Policy, Media Studies, International Relations, or related fields.

• Outstanding writing skills in English.

• Proficient verbal communication and speaking skills are advantageous.

• Responsive, consistent, and effective communicator, even in challenging situations.

• Preferred experience in policy research, political commentary, political science, or a related field.

• Passion for ONC’s mission and values, including a willingness to engage in respectful debate with individuals holding diverse and opposing political views.

• Capability to work remotely and manage one's own schedule to meet deadlines.

• Experience with Google Workspace is preferred.

• Must be able to attend weekly Organization-Wide meetings.

• Must be available for weekly Core Content Department meetings.

• Must be authorized to intern in the U.S.

• A writing sample must be submitted with the application.

• Commitment to at least the end of the current semester is required.

• Must be comfortable coordinating in a remote setting and maintain a high standard of communication.

• Interest and experience in at least one of ONC’s policy areas, preferably two or three.
