Computer Science/Engineering Intern – Computer Vision Applications

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Utilize computer vision techniques, such as convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and vision transformers (ViTs), to enhance degraded imagery and video feeds during lunar landings caused by plume surface interaction effects.

• Refine designs based on input from the engineering team, including guidance from GN&C, mechanical, and flight test teams.

• Generate engineering drawings and configuration-controlled CAD packages for internal design evaluations.

• Create reports, presentations, and other documentation that include clear annotations and directives.

• Participate in meetings, teleconferences, and workshops as required.

⛳️ Requirements

• Progress towards an undergraduate or graduate degree in a relevant technical field, such as physics, computer science, or engineering.

• Proficient knowledge and application of CNNs/ViTs for image dehazing using PyTorch.

• Familiarity with PSI scattering physics.

• Programming skills in C/C++, Python, and Julia.

• Proficient presentation abilities, including the creation and effective delivery of PowerPoint presentations.

• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

• Capability to convey design decisions to engineering and project management teams.

• Ability to produce clear assembly instructions.

• Availability to work at NASA Langley Research Facility in Hampton, Virginia, or remotely.

• US citizenship or permanent residency is required due to ITAR/EAR regulations.
