Computational Biologist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead the analysis and interpretation of molecular and clinical data for the early detection of cancer, serving as a thought leader on the Computational Science team.

• Propose research hypotheses and identify areas for enhancing computational models and assays, subsequently planning, scoping, and executing related research alongside a multidisciplinary team.

• Create bioinformatics pipelines for the processing and analysis of high-throughput NGS data.

• Partner with wet-lab scientists to refine experimental methods through real-time evaluations of assay performance, quality control, and clinical/diagnostic utility.

• Remain updated on molecular oncology techniques and collaborate on the development of next-generation assays for early cancer detection.

⛳️ Requirements

• PhD in computational biology, cancer biology, statistics, bioinformatics, or a related quantitative field.

• Proven experience in NGS assay and pipeline development.

• Established track record of implementing complex workflows for high-throughput NGS data processing.

• Strong quantitative reasoning and data analysis capabilities applied to pertinent scientific issues.

• Proficient computational and programming skills, with extensive experience in Python statistical packages (NumPy, Matplotlib, Pandas) or equivalent languages like R.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills suitable for scientific and broader audiences.

• Capacity to collaborate effectively within a cross-functional team comprising computational and experimental scientists.

• Nice to have: expert knowledge in chromatin biology, liquid biopsy, DNA methylation, and early cancer detection.

• Nice to have: substantial experience with DNA methylation data in biomarker discovery research.

• Nice to have: experience in developing, applying, and evaluating statistical and/or machine learning algorithms.
