Complex Trial Attorney

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Advocate for clients across all facets of insurance defense practice.

• Manage cases that involve high complexity and significant exposure, addressing unique insurance defense challenges.

• Oversee cases from initial intake through to final resolution.

• Take on first- and/or second-chair responsibilities for late-stage litigation cases, including trial proceedings.

• Litigate cases through trial and/or settlement across various venues.

• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery documents, and briefs.

• Conduct hearings, conferences, interviews, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.

• Develop and implement trial strategies and arguments.

• Analyze legal precedents to identify strengths and weaknesses of cases.

• Manage matters within the attorney's licensed jurisdictions and respective courts.

• Lead the sharing of knowledge regarding industry legal trends and advancements.

• Mentor and train junior attorneys.

• Collaborate with Claims Executive teams to offer legal strategy insights for personal injury claims.

• Provide guidance on regulatory compliance and adhere to industry standards.

• Interpret relevant industry laws, rulings, and regulations.

• Functionally supervise attorneys supporting casework.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be licensed to practice law in the applicable states upon hire.

• Required experience in managing high-complexity and/or high-exposure cases, including first-chair jury trial experience and/or equivalent court experience.

• Preference for multistate jurisdictional practice.

• Profound understanding of both procedural and substantive law.

• Exceptional skills in trial advocacy, public speaking, communication, case preparation, strategy, negotiations, depositions, expert witness coordination, damages assessment, analysis/evaluation, reporting, and client/customer service.

• Strong verbal communication and active listening abilities.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to engage and command an audience's attention.

• Proven problem-solving capabilities.

• Ability to represent the company effectively with external stakeholders.

• Proficient in managing conflicts and rapidly interpreting and responding to new information.

• Strong judgment and decision-making skills.

• Capability to work under tight deadlines and manage time effectively.

• High technical proficiency and comfort with technology in a virtual, paperless environment.

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
