This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oregon.
• Oversee the daily operations of the dbt Slack community, ensuring a welcoming and valuable experience for members globally.
• Collaborate with community leaders and internal stakeholders to enhance channel strategies, community guidelines, and engagement initiatives.
• Create and uphold scalable moderation and support workflows, including the enforcement of the Code of Conduct.
• Mentor and assist moderators and community champions; recruit and onboard new moderators.
• Establish content systems encompassing announcements, highlights, prompts, and community narratives.
• Present community insights and member feedback to Product, Marketing, and Support while ensuring feedback is communicated back to the community.
• Track and report on engagement and health metrics, and conduct experiments to enhance these metrics.
• Manage the digital engagement toolset, which includes Slack workflows, analytics, knowledge base, integrations, and web portals.
• Coordinate and manage incident responses alongside Legal, People, and Security teams as necessary.
• Facilitate digital engagement across various community forums, social channels, and events.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in digital community management, online engagement, or community program management in a global or distributed setting.
• Proven experience managing daily operations for a large online community, such as Slack, Discord, or forums.
• Familiarity with moderation, member support, and community health practices.
• Deep understanding of online community dynamics and the ability to foster trust, belonging, and a shared purpose at scale.
• Experience in developing and refining moderation and support workflows, including the enforcement of the Code of Conduct.
• Exceptional written communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to respond clearly and empathetically, de-escalate conflicts, and promote constructive conversations.
• Proficiency in using community tools and analytics, such as Slack workflows, Common Room, or similar platforms.
• Ability to make data-informed decisions, including defining engagement and health KPIs, measuring impact, and reporting outcomes.
• Strong skills in cross-functional collaboration with Product, Marketing, Support, and Developer Experience teams.
• Cultural fluency and awareness of communication differences across regions and time zones.
• High emotional intelligence and comfort in navigating conflicts, ambiguity, and sensitive topics.
• Capacity to prioritize tasks across multiple streams in a dynamic environment.
