📋 Description

• Position Overview: The Community Engagement Specialist is responsible for executing effective marketing and recruitment strategies throughout the year to boost girl and adult membership in a designated area.

• This role is driven by specific goals, and coordinators are expected to deliver a predetermined number of events, leads, and new memberships within set timelines.


⛳️ Requirements

• Conduct in-person presentations highlighting the advantages of Girl Scouting to target groups, including parent-teacher organizations, religious groups, and community entities.

• Promote and act as the primary host for events that offer enjoyable activities for girls while providing information to adults at various community venues such as schools, faith-based institutions, and libraries within the assigned territory.

• Continuously evaluate progress towards goals and make necessary adjustments to ensure targets are achieved.

• Build and maintain relationships with schools, community centers, and other local organizations to create more opportunities for girl recruitment activities and parent interest meetings.

• Collaborate with the Membership Recruitment Manager to identify community and school events to attend, set up engaging displays to promote Girl Scouts, and interact with attendees to generate enthusiasm for joining.

• Gather information on potential leads through participation in community and school events, employing proven sales techniques to convert leads into new members to support council membership objectives.

• Facilitate troop formation meetings to recruit girl members and adult troop leaders.

• Assist with member registration at events when possible, or effectively follow up as needed, including troubleshooting issues related to the online registration system.

• Support Membership Registration Specialists in processing leads across the council as needed.

• Communicate efficiently with Membership Registration and Volunteer Support teams to stay updated on the availability of existing troops, the necessity to form new ones, and best practices to ensure new girls are welcomed and new adult members/troop leaders are adequately supported and trained.

• Act as a subject matter expert on the Girl Scout Leadership Experience and the benefits of being a member for both girls and adults.

• Enter all leads and interest cards into the system within 24 hours following any event.

• Distribute promotional materials about Girl Scouts within the assigned territory.

• Travel frequently within the designated area.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• Experience in outside sales, recruiting, retail, or public relations is preferred.

• Availability on weekends and evenings is required, averaging 3-4 Saturdays or Sundays per month, along with routinely 2 evenings per week, subject to variation.

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a bachelor's degree is preferred.

• Proven ability to work independently and achieve assigned goals.

• Excellent customer service skills are essential.

• Demonstrated capability to work effectively in a goal-oriented environment; comfortable reassessing strategies and making adjustments mid-campaign to meet objectives.

• Willingness to lead group events and engage potential members in conversation.

• Proven ability to interact and connect with community stakeholders, leaders, children, and families from diverse backgrounds.

• Exhibit critical thinking skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality.

• Reliability in all aspects of work ethic, integrity, communication, punctuality, and professionalism is crucial.

• Basic computer literacy, including Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel is required; experience with CRM systems is preferred.

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

• Capability to stand for 4-6 hours continuously.

• A valid driver’s license is required, along with access to reliable personal transportation that is properly licensed and insured.

• Willingness to travel throughout the assigned region.

• Must pass background checks and clearance processes.

• Knowledge of the Girl Scout program is preferred.

• Bilingual skills are a plus.
