This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more country.
• Assist in the design and execution of stakeholder engagement strategies that align with the company's values and business goals.
• Identify, map, and assess communities, Indigenous peoples, local authorities, and civil society organizations.
• Engage in community consultations, information sessions, and multi-stakeholder forums.
• Foster relationships with local communities, traditional authorities, and governmental agencies.
• Aid in the engagement and consultation activities with Indigenous and First Nations groups.
• Prepare, monitor, and manage agreements with Indigenous and First Nations organizations.
• Incorporate traditional knowledge and land-use information into project planning.
• Keep stakeholder registers, interaction logs, and engagement records up to date.
• Conduct social due diligence assessments for new exploration initiatives.
• Assist with social baseline studies, social impact evaluations, and risk assessments.
• Create and review social risk registers along with mitigation strategies.
• Monitor compliance with social obligations across various jurisdictions.
• Maintain registers for risks, obligations, and commitments.
• Support social performance audits and assurance processes.
• Track and report on compensation processes, community development initiatives, and their outcomes.
• Prepare presentations for both internal and external stakeholders.
• Provide social performance support for assigned exploration and development projects.
• Collaborate with Geology, Operations, Security, and Health & Safety departments.
• Assist in permitting processes with social inputs and community engagement requirements.
• Aid in community development and investment programs, including budgeting, monitoring, and evaluation.
• Support negotiation processes for land access and compensation.
• Enhance social performance procedures, tools, and templates.
• Conduct social performance training for non-specialist personnel.
• Stay updated on trends, standards, and best practices in social performance within the mining and extractive sectors.
• 5–8 years of progressive experience in social performance, community relations, or stakeholder engagement in the mining, energy, agriculture, or infrastructure sectors.
• Experience collaborating with First Nations, Métis, Inuit, or other Indigenous communities.
• Proficiency in conducting social due diligence, social impact assessments, or human rights due diligence.
• Strong skills in data collection, social monitoring, and report writing.
• Willingness to work flexible hours and adapt to shifting project priorities.
• Readiness and capability to travel to and work at remote field sites for approximately 6–10 weeks per year.
• High levels of integrity, cultural sensitivity, and professional maturity.
• Ability to work effectively within a diverse, cross-functional team.
• Curiosity and enthusiasm for learning about mineral exploration and development.
• Comfort in a dynamic and evolving early-stage company environment.
• Preferred: fluency in French.
• Preferred: knowledge of IFC Performance Standards, ICMM Mining Principles and Performance Expectations, Equator Principles, Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights, and UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
• Preferred: experience with stakeholder relationship management, grievance-tracking databases, and GIS or mapping tools.
• Preferred: experience with Resettlement Action Plans.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States or Canada.
• Hands-on experience with exploration projects globally.
