This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Assist in the implementation of public affairs and advocacy initiatives, which includes content creation, coordination, execution, and rapid-response activities.
• Ensure consistency, accuracy, and quality of messaging across all communication outputs.
• Supervise daily digital and social media activities, which entail crafting content for blogs and newsletters, managing content calendars, and liaising with external vendors.
• Oversee earned media efforts, including monitoring media, conducting press outreach, engaging with reporters, pitching stories, and preparing spokespersons.
• Collaborate with designers, videographers, and other vendors to create necessary communication materials.
• Work with the organization's research team to convert research findings, polling data, and analyses into easily understandable public content.
• Manage content workflows, timelines, and approval processes to ensure prompt execution across various initiatives.
• Organize and maintain communication templates, assets, and documentation systematically.
• Assist in reporting and tracking communication outputs and performance metrics effectively.
• Alignment with the mission and vision of yes. every kid. regarding education policy.
• 5-7 years of experience in communications, public relations, journalism, advocacy, or a similar field.
• Outstanding writing and editing capabilities, with a keen eye for detail and strong editorial judgment.
• Proficient in digital communications and social media strategies, including experience in managing or coordinating with external vendors.
• Proven experience in managing earned media and interacting with reporters in high-pressure environments.
• Demonstrated ability to create visual or graphic materials intended for external audiences.
• Excellent organizational and project management skills, capable of handling multiple deadlines concurrently.
• Ability to follow strategic direction and work independently.
• Sound judgment, discretion, and professionalism in high-pressure or time-sensitive situations.
• Comfort in collaborating within a remote organization.
