This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut, +4 more states.
• Transform intricate operational and clinical processes into engaging, human-centric narratives that resonate with external stakeholders such as families, educational institutions, funders, policymakers, and potential employees.
• Create messaging frameworks, talking points, and narrative guides that ensure Aspire’s story remains consistent across various departments and channels.
• Actively identify positioning gaps and assist in shaping external narratives prior to their formal definition.
• Oversee media relations, which includes drafting press releases, pitching stories, and addressing inquiries.
• Cultivate and sustain relationships with journalists and media outlets within Aspire’s operational areas, particularly in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maryland.
• Support thought leadership initiatives by pinpointing opportunities and preparing Aspire representatives for interviews, panels, and speaking engagements.
• Compose op-eds, bylines, and award submissions that enhance Aspire’s standing in human services, behavioral health, and education.
• Keep track of emerging industry discussions and help articulate Aspire’s perspective with clarity and confidence.
• Collaborate with the marketing team to boost Aspire’s external visibility through digital and content platforms.
• Write and refine leadership messaging, staff updates, and executive talking points that align with Aspire’s voice and values.
• Assist in change communication alongside senior leadership and the People & Culture team to uphold trust and transparency during transitional periods.
• Act as a communications resource for cross-functional projects that necessitate timely and consistent messaging.
• Engage in training and skill-building opportunities as assigned by management.
• 3–5 years of experience in communications, public relations, or a similar field.
• Excellent writing abilities across various formats, including press releases, talking points, op-eds, and leadership communications.
• Demonstrated capacity to translate complex or technical subjects into clear, accessible narratives for a diverse audience.
• Experience (or strong familiarity) with communications in nonprofit, healthcare, human services, or behavioral health sectors is preferred.
• Knowledge of multi-state media markets and regional press relationships is advantageous.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Team-oriented mindset and strong communication skills across cross-functional teams.
