Communications Director

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Iowa.

📋 Description

• Create and implement strategic communication strategies alongside the IA Campaign Manager and SBA Communications Team.

• Cultivate and maintain relationships with media outlets and influencers in Iowa.

• Draft pitches, press releases, talking points, and statements with assistance from the SBA Traditional Media Team.

• Plan and execute both in-person and virtual press events.

• Generate social media content for Iowa with the help of the SBA Social Media Team.

• Collaborate with pro-life leaders and grassroots organizations in Iowa to promote messaging.

• Act as a local spokesperson or develop spokespeople for Iowa.

• Travel frequently within Iowa for meetings, events, and coalition-building activities.

• Occasionally visit SBA headquarters in Arlington, Virginia.

• Be available for evening and weekend work as needed.

• Background in communications, media relations, social media, and political engagement.

• Demonstrated ability to collaborate and meet tight deadlines.

• Experience with Iowa media outlets.

• Strong commitment to SBA’s pro-life mission and values.

• Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities.

• Keen political awareness and instincts.

• Excellent project management skills; capable of handling multiple priorities and achieving high-quality results under pressure.

• High level of adaptability and calmness in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

• Proficient with or quick to learn Cision, Asana, and Sprout.

• Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required.

• Regular travel within Iowa is essential.
