Communication Strategist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alaska, +25 more states.

📋 Description

• Identify email, social media, and press campaigns for our team to test that are likely to resonate with conservative media audiences.

• Consistently secure high-quality media coverage for a select number of impactful campaigns.

• Engage social media influencers to promote campaigns within your portfolio, collaborating with our social team to generate high-performing content for our channels.

• Assist petition starters in driving their campaigns to success and communicating about their campaigns to the media.

• Craft effective brand emails that engage a broad segment of Change.org’s email audience.

• Stay informed on compelling news stories to aid in campaign selection and escalation.

• Leverage media to enhance campaign impact, achieve victory, and increase brand awareness; this includes pitching to the press, creating reporter lists, and proposing stories for social media.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3-6 years of experience in social organizing, campaigning, or advocacy.

• 7+ years of experience in communications.

• Excellent writing skills, with a background in creating press notes, marketing emails, and social media content.

• Strong media skills, including experience in pitching to journalists and executing media strategies that attract the attention of key stakeholders, as well as using media to enhance brand affinity.

• A robust network of relationships with journalists and influencers focused on conservative issues.

• Proven success in organizing social campaigns and capturing the attention of decision-makers.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapid response environment.

• Experience in developing complex, data-driven campaign strategies.

• A keen understanding of which petitions are likely to perform well on social media.

• Openness to work across differing viewpoints, including supporting policy-compliant campaigns that may not align with your personal beliefs but adhere to Change.org’s commitment to being an open platform.
