This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Formulate and execute short, medium, and long-term strategies for the category.
• Comprehend market dynamics, cost factors, and supply chain risks.
• Monitor and evaluate relevant commodity indices to guide pricing strategies, supplier negotiations, and future cost visibility.
• Direct sourcing decisions that align with business needs and technical specifications.
• Maintain a clear roadmap for supplier segmentation and sourcing.
• Lead all commercial negotiations, encompassing pricing, payment terms, and contractual safeguards.
• Ensure that all suppliers function within stringent contractual frameworks (Genuit T&Cs / agreements).
• Promote enhancements in total cost of ownership beyond mere pricing.
• Oversee contract lifecycle management, including renewals and re-tendering processes.
• Build and manage strategic relationships with suppliers.
• Establish a structured supplier performance management system (Quality, Cost, Delivery - QCD).
• Conduct supplier evaluations, improvement initiatives, and escalations when necessary.
• Discover and integrate alternative suppliers to minimize dependency and risk.
• Identify and address supply, financial, and operational risks.
• Ensure a reliable supply across all locations.
• Create contingency plans for key suppliers and commodities.
• Monitor market fluctuations (e.g., raw materials, logistics, capacity constraints).
• Serve as the commercial lead across multiple locations.
• Influence senior stakeholders (Operations, Finance, Engineering, Senior Leadership Team).
• Challenge demand, specifications, and sourcing methodologies as appropriate.
• Ensure adherence to procurement processes and governance.
• Achieve established KPIs: - Cost savings / cost avoidance - Payment term enhancements - Supplier performance - Contract coverage - Provide transparent reporting and insights on category performance.
• Identify and implement process improvements and efficiencies.
• Support standardization efforts across various sites and categories.
• Contribute to overarching procurement strategy and transformation initiatives.
• Demonstrated experience in commodity or category management within a manufacturing setting.
• Proven track record in commercial negotiations and contract management, delivering value while mitigating risks.
• Experience in managing spending portfolios across multiple sites or regions.
• Exposure to intricate supply chains and critical materials or services.
• Strong commercial insight with the ability to formulate and implement effective sourcing strategies.
• Solid grasp of procurement and supply chain principles.
• Good understanding of contract law and commercial frameworks, including the negotiation and management of supplier agreements.
• Analytical mindset capable of interpreting cost drivers and market trends.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes and cost structures.
• Ability to influence and nurture relationships within a matrix organization without direct authority.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication abilities.
• Proven capability to juggle multiple priorities and achieve results in a dynamic environment.
• High degree of autonomy with robust decision-making skills.
• Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems (IFS preferred).
• Willingness to travel across various UK and international locations.
