This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.
• Carry out startup, commissioning, and training at customer sites for mechanical, electrical, and performance testing on Belt Presses, ISO-Discs, and/or SBR Floating Decanters/Package Plants.
• Execute start-up and commissioning following established procedures, including functionality tests FAT and the completion of SAT tests.
• Document results and provide feedback to the project team.
• Deliver customer training (both classroom and hands-on) on the operation and maintenance of our equipment.
• Knowledgeable in tuning equipment parameters to enhance performance.
• Experienced in reviewing Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) flow charts.
• Conduct site inspections and supervise installations prior to commissioning activities.
• Perform pre-commissioning tasks (IO check, vacuum test, dry runs, etc.) both in person and digitally.
• Participate in customer meetings during startup, testing, and site activities.
• Provide remote support to customers.
• Familiar with commonly utilized instrumentation and electrical components such as flow meters, pressure/flow switches, VFDs, etc.
• Comprehend basic electrical schematics and carry out basic troubleshooting during startup.
• Assist project managers in ensuring that plants and systems delivered to customers comply with specifications upon departure from AL.
• Engage in project reviews to ensure lessons learned from previous commissioning jobs are integrated into new projects and standard concepts.
• Conduct performance evaluations of installations that have already been handed over to customers.
• Capable of executing the startup of Alfa Laval equipment (installation, mechanical assembly, control parameters, motor ID runs, etc.).
• Start up and shut down equipment following company and customer safety procedures in accordance with OSHA regulations.
• Generate job time and expense reports, commissioning reports, and payroll reports as required by all field service technicians.
• Secure Signed Time Summary sheets/commissioning reports from the customer upon job completion.
• Perform Field Service jobs and training as necessary.
• Diploma/associate’s degree in engineering or a related field; a bachelor’s degree is a plus.
• Over 5 years of field service or equivalent experience.
• Strong customer service and sales orientation.
• High cultural competence in service delivery.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Advanced mechanical skills and aptitude.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical issues and/or controls.
• Basic automation skills.
• Competence in uploading programs for controls/automation.
• Proficient in communicating operational and safety parameters of the equipment to customers.
• Skilled in troubleshooting and resolving technical problems.
• Team player with the ability to work independently.
• Basic proficiency in PC utilization, specifically Microsoft Office.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Willingness to travel 75% to 85% of the time.
