Commissioning Project Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Deliver consistent, prompt, and effective support to the Commissioning & Building Analytics team.

• Oversee, evaluate, and implement all aspects of commissioning-related projects.

• Carry out technical and field activities across the design, pre-construction, construction, and post-construction stages.

• Collaborate with team members, external consultants, and contractors while facilitating cross-functional teamwork.

• Create commissioning plans, specifications, activity timelines, and work sequences.

• Perform field commissioning tasks, site inspections, start-up and test forms, functional assessments, and integrated systems evaluations.

• Evaluate design drawings, specifications, and submissions.

• Lead commissioning meetings.

• Create, monitor, and address issues utilizing an Issues Log.

• Formulate and implement seasonal and performance testing.

• Assemble project documentation into project-specific Systems Manuals.

• Design, assess, and enhance training programs for installed equipment and systems.

• Assist in fulfilling all project documentation and field activity requirements.

• Oversee multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.

⛳️ Requirements

• Hold a recognized university technical degree or equivalent; an engineering degree is preferred.

• At least 2 years of relevant mechanical or electrical engineering and/or field-testing experience.

• Familiarity with commissioning processes and deliverables as outlined in ASHRAE, CSA, and LEED standards.

• Practical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment and systems inspections, testing, and commissioning.

• Experience in testing mechanical and HVAC&R systems, building management and automation systems, plumbing systems, lighting controls, and normal/emergency power systems.

• Comprehension of commissioning plans, specifications, activity schedules, and work sequences.

• Capability to utilize calibrated testing instruments including flow hoods, anemometers, pitot tubes, IR cameras, power quality meters, and other measuring devices.

• Ability to develop and assemble Systems Manuals and manage project documentation effectively.

• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis capabilities.

• Proficient data management skills.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.

• Skilled in using MS Office applications.

• Proven ability to coordinate and organize multiple project schedules simultaneously.

• Capacity to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment.

• Willingness to travel 30%-40% to client locations throughout the USA.

• Must possess authorization to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship.

• PE or PMP designation, CEM, CBCP, CPMP, BCxP, CxA, and LEED AP certifications are considered assets or preferred, but not mandatory.
