This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Execute Level 1–5 commissioning for data center infrastructure, including base building, security, life safety, electrical, mechanical, EPMS, and BMS systems.
• Supervise, document, and monitor commissioning processes, which encompass testing and validation of infrastructure, equipment, and building subsystems.
• Act as the project manager and primary contact for a third-party commissioning agent.
• Assist site construction efforts and installations alongside the QTS Development Team and external construction resources.
• Formulate detailed commissioning plans for Level 1–5 systems.
• Conduct commissioning activities to verify that systems are installed, tested, and validated in accordance with standards and client specifications.
• Identify, monitor, and address commissioning challenges with project teams.
• Deliver findings and recommendations to program management to foster continuous improvement.
• Prepare and evaluate commissioning documentation, test procedures, reports, and as-built records.
• Observe equipment testing and confirm sequences of operation and operational documentation.
• Collaborate with design engineers, project managers, contractors, commissioning agents, and facilities operations personnel.
• Enforce quality control measures while complying with regulatory standards and industry best practices.
• Create and test site-specific SOPs, MOPs, and ERPs in conjunction with facilities operations.
• Train end users and maintenance staff on the commissioned systems.
• Utilize the Change Management Process to secure maintenance approvals and complete documentation in QTS systems.
• Work nights and/or weekends as necessary to support construction and commissioning efforts.
• Travel roughly 75% of the time to various data center locations across the United States.
• A bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Project Management, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• A minimum of five years of experience in data center engineering, commissioning, project management, or a similar field.
• Familiarity with building maintenance, CCTV and access control systems, networking, telecommunications, and/or fire detection/suppression systems.
• Willingness to travel to other data center sites as needed.
• Proficiency in the MS Office Suite.
• U.S. citizenship is required by law due to federal customer contracts.
• Solid understanding of mechanical and electrical equipment, systems, and design relevant to data centers.
• Knowledge of electrical systems, including medium- to low-voltage distribution.
• Experience with emergency backup systems such as generators, UPS, and battery backup solutions.
• Experience with mechanical cooling systems, including chillers, CRAH, CRAC, pumps, and heat exchangers.
• Understanding of equipment operation and maintenance, single-line drawings, critical scripted tasks, and sequences of operation.
• Capability to analyze system operations, identify issues, and implement corrective measures.
• Ability to acquire and apply job-related knowledge within set guidelines and expectations.
• Skill in developing project solutions and technical plans.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
• Strong computer skills and familiarity with MS Office, Outlook, and online applications.
• Capacity to perform frequent typing, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching, and lifting.
• Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.; heavier weights should be managed with assistance or lifting aids.
