Commissioning Director

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Oversee commissioning delivery for multiple simultaneous data center construction initiatives.

• Create and execute standardized commissioning strategies, frameworks, and schedules throughout the portfolio.

• Manage pipeline planning to enhance resource allocation and execution strategies.

• Collaborate cross-functionally with Construction, Design, and Operations teams to ensure effective project delivery.

• Contribute to project budgets, commissioning strategies, and testing protocols, including FAT, FPT, and IST.

• Act as the primary point of contact for clients during commissioning phases.

• Report on progress against key milestones, including readiness for service (RFS).

• Lead the resolution of complex issues and escalations, ensuring delivery assurance and customer satisfaction.

• Promote the adoption of commissioning standards, governance, and best practices across all projects.

• Initiate continuous improvement efforts to refine commissioning processes, tools, and delivery models.

• Standardize commissioning scopes, methodologies, and schedules in accordance with customer and contract requirements.

• Manage commissioning reporting across the portfolio, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and transparency.

• Supervise the creation of commissioning documentation, including test procedures, reports, and readiness assessments.

• Utilize data and performance insights to identify trends, mitigate risks, and enhance future program delivery.

• Direct the commissioning vendor strategy, covering RFP development, selection, and performance management.

• Define and monitor vendor KPIs, fostering accountability through regular business reviews.

• Oversee external commissioning partners and governance forums to ensure alignment and excellence in delivery.


⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in data center commissioning within mission-critical settings.

• Proven leadership background managing complex, multi-site construction programs.

• Strong technical knowledge in electrical and/or mechanical systems, including MEP systems.

• Demonstrated capability to drive cross-functional alignment and influence senior stakeholders.

• Experience in managing external vendors and large-scale service delivery contracts.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience, preferred.
