Commercial Risk Manager – EPC, Contracts

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Develop and uphold comprehensive compliance with risk processes; conduct periodic audits as necessary.

• Assist the Managing Director with market research across various customer segments, competitive landscapes, and regulatory frameworks to pinpoint strategic opportunities for BESS offerings.

• Maintain risk management processes to identify both technical and commercial risks, promote mitigation strategies, and ensure informed leadership decisions during both pre-contract and post-contract phases of the project.

• Create and enhance pricing strategies that align with the organization’s risk appetite, merging commercial insights with risk considerations to support market execution.

• Guarantee the accuracy and completeness of data provided by the Commercial Manager and Application Engineering teams through the Risk Passport (CRM or other systems).

• Develop, manage, and oversee a project Risk Passport and the approval Delegation of Authority.

• Represent the Risk Team at headquarters risk reviews when necessary and effectively present proposal details to the leadership team to enable swift decision-making.

• Supply Business Leadership with comprehensive information to identify external transaction risks and formulate mitigation strategies.

• Solid background in commercial, contract, or risk management within intricate project environments.

• Extensive experience in negotiating large-scale contracts and navigating non-standard positions.

• Demonstrated ability to analyze problems, provide creative solutions, and assist teams during high-stakes decisions.

• Effective communicator capable of influencing leadership, guiding commercial teams, and simplifying complex concepts.

• Exposure to international markets with an understanding of diverse contracting norms.

• Previous experience in the renewable energy sector; BESS experience is a plus.

• Familiarity with bonds, insurance requirements, and compliance reporting is advantageous.
