
Commercial Mechanical Estimator – HVAC

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.
• Review and evaluate complete bid packages, encompassing mechanical drawings and Division 23 specifications, to identify scope gaps, risks, and any missing requirements.
• Conduct comprehensive quantity takeoffs for HVAC systems, which include:
• - Ductwork
• - Hydronic and refrigerant piping
• - Equipment such as AHUs, RTUs, chillers, and boilers
• - Diffusers, grilles, and registers
• - Controls and associated components
• Extract and interpret technical specifications from drawings, schedules, addenda, and specifications.
• Assist in bid preparation through pricing, assembly, and coordination with the lead estimator and internal team.
• Source and structure vendor and subcontractor quotes for equipment, materials, and specialized systems.
• Utilize labor units (SMACNA/MCAA or client-specific standards) to create precise labor estimates.
• Collaborate with project management and engineering teams to ensure the accuracy and consistency of estimates across all documentation.
• Ensure adherence to mechanical codes (IMC, ASHRAE) and commercial construction standards.
• Aid in identifying constructability challenges and logistical issues in proposed HVAC systems.
• A minimum of 2+ years of experience in commercial HVAC or mechanical estimating.
• Strong capability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
• Proven track record of identifying scope gaps, inconsistencies, and cost risks in estimates.
• Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with HVAC estimating/takeoff tools, including:
• - FastEST / FastDUCT / FastPIPE
• - QuoteSoft
• - Trimble Autobid Mechanical
• - PlanSwift
• - Bluebeam
• Solid understanding of HVAC systems, comprising:
• - Air handling units, rooftop units, chillers, and boilers
• - VAV and fan coil systems
• - Ductwork and piping systems
• - Controls and building automation systems
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with U.S.-based teams.
• A neutral English accent and clear verbal communication skills are essential.
• Previous remote experience working with U.S. contractors is highly preferred.
