Commercial Lender

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Cultivate and oversee lending relationships aimed at generating loan requests that align with established lending criteria, ensuring maximum profitability for the bank with minimal risk.

• Manage a loan portfolio with the specific goal of increasing balances and profitability while reducing past dues, charge-offs, and other loan-related issues.

• Operate within the bank's national lending platform across various programs.

• Create a continuous personal business development strategy utilizing a structured calling program that achieves a predetermined minimum of new loan growth and fee generation based on business unit KPIs.

• Gather essential information from loan applicants to ensure loan requests are comprehended and accurately underwritten; address the credit department's inquiries related to the underwriting process to assess the creditworthiness of loan applicants.

• Provide updates as requested regarding the status of loans that are in process and those approved but not yet closed (pipeline and backlog report).

• Make prompt decisions on loan applications within the authority granted.

• Ensure the accuracy of loan grading, documentation, performance, resolution of exceptions, and follow-up on all loans within the assigned portfolio.

• Proactively engage with the existing customer base for referrals to generate new business from both prospects and current customers.

• Keep a record of delinquent accounts within the personal portfolio and maintain a log of collection efforts.

• Reach out to delinquent accounts through phone calls, personal visits, or correspondence.

• Refer irreconcilable accounts for collector action or legal proceedings.

• Monitor loan repayments within the assigned portfolio and take necessary actions to recover past due loans.

• Participate in community events to enhance the bank’s visibility and explore new business opportunities.

• Advocate for bank services, identify referral opportunities (including consumer loans), respond to customer inquiries, and guide customers to the appropriate personnel for support.

• Efficiently utilize bank systems and technology to their fullest potential, including lead tracking, opportunities, file notes, underwriting, processing, closings, and servicing workflows.

• Maintain a comprehensive understanding of all legal and regulatory compliance issues relevant to this role, including loss prevention and security where applicable.

⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university is preferred, though relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

• A proven history in commercial lending, particularly for commercial and commercial real estate loan requests.

• Strong relationship management capabilities for commercial, small business, and personal interactions.

• Highly developed analytical and underwriting skills with a focus on credit quality.

• Required experience in portfolio management.

• Excellent oral and written communication abilities.

• Proficiency in computer skills.

• Outstanding customer service skills.
