Commercial Generator Field Technician – Gen Sets, LV/MV Electrical, Mechanical, Microgrid, Field Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Oversee the maintenance and repair of both contracted and non-contracted generator and power distribution systems.

• Deliver technical assistance to clients regarding operational or maintenance concerns.

• Travel daily and work autonomously at customer locations.

• Provide 24/7 on-call support as necessary.

• Install and replace batteries as needed.

• Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance on contracted systems.

• Maintain communication with customers and interface effectively.

• Relay availability status to the corporate office.

• Utilize electronic and electrical testing tools.

• Coordinate and oversee on-site subcontractors.

• Ensure the company vehicle is kept in a safe and operational state.

• Accurately and promptly complete Field Service Reports, Time Sheets, Expense Reports, and other necessary documentation.

• Keep technical documentation up to date.

• Participate in mandatory company training sessions.

• Cross-train in additional areas as required.

⛳️ Requirements

• Level II Technician position requires three years of field experience in servicing generator systems.

• Some background in servicing systems of 500kW or larger is preferred.

• Strong proficiency in preventative maintenance practices.

• Experience in retrofitting basic control systems.

• Familiarity with minor ATS repairs and loadbanking equipment.

• High School diploma or GED equivalent, along with relevant military experience or equivalent field experience.

• Capability to perform triennial maintenance, engine diagnostics, fuel system priming, and replace failed engine components.

• Operational knowledge of Automatic Transfer Systems, with the ability to troubleshoot and repair with minimal guidance.

• Competence in reading electronic schematics and troubleshooting mechanical and electronic systems to the component level with assistance.

• Experience with or a quick learning ability for Woodward, Beckwith, and PLC controls.

• Ability to comprehend technical, safety, service, and policy documentation.

• Basic mathematical skills are required.

• Skills in problem definition, data collection, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.

• Compliance with all safety standards is essential.

• Proficiency with computers, including ERP systems, email, and Microsoft Office Suite.

• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

• Strong attention to detail and a process-oriented approach.

• Ability to work collaboratively within a team.

• Willingness and capability to participate in required training programs.

• Must own and maintain a personal set of mechanical tools.

• Willingness to travel out of market/state up to 25% of the time.

• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull between 20–75 pounds.

• Capability to drive a heavy-duty truck for up to 10 consecutive hours.

• Required to wear appropriate PPE at all times.

• Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check, drug screening, and MVR clearance.
